You may also be advised to use special dressings – plasters – impregnated with special wound care colloids that have been shown to increase rates of increase healing, with the advantage they also hide the herpes blister.
Research to find a vaccine for prevention and treatment of herpes is ongoing. These target specific genes in cells that are involved in replication of the virus, to disable the genes producing a protein needed by the virus to mature and replicate.
