There is growing evidence that the practice of Yoga can help in the healing of a wide variety of health problems. The practice of Yoga probably started in the 5th and 6th centuries BC.  Today there are many different forms of Yoga that emphasize different aspects of the original forms of Yoga.  Some of the more modern styles of Yoga that have been developed have a strong fitness aspect and others have a deeper meditation element. Different forms are helpful for different health issues.  Some are challenging due to the physical nature of the type of yoga and the length of time required to hold the pose. Others are less challenging physically and are suitable for beginners.

Yoga is a wonderful addition to anyone’s lifestyle, whether that person is ill, healthy, or recovering from an illness.  It is important to participate in a type of Yoga that suits your personal needs and not to push yourself too hard too quickly when recovering from illness.
