You must not reduce medications unless you have first agreed this with your doctor!

Some drugs aggravate stress and anxiety directly through their effect on heart rate or blood sugar. Others have slower, long term effects on vitamin levels in the body leading to a deficiency that aggravates the body’s ability to cope with stress. Any medications that reduce the B vitamin levels can aggravate stress, especially those that reduce uptake of Vitamin B12.

The following drugs / medicines can aggravate stress and anxiety.

  • Asthma inhalers.
  • Diabetic medication
  • Gout medication
  • Thyroid drugs
  • Heartburn, anti-acid stomach medications
  • Arthritis and cancer medication
  • Cholesterol medication
