Patient QI found two recent studies that looked at the effectiveness of yoga in the management of dyslipidemia. The first was carried out on patients with type 2 diabetes with a control group, and lipid profiles were compared at the start and at the end of 3 months. The study group showed a decrease in total cholesterol, triglycerides and LDL, with an improvement in HDL. The second study looked at the effects of Hatha yoga on the metabolic parameters in obese adolescent boys. The study group were assigned to 8 weeks of yoga-asana training and results showed that the yoga improved body composition and total cholesterol levels.
